Leadership Minor
As a Leadership minor I have had the opportunity to take a variety of classes in a variety of different areas including my major, communication, moral problems, psychology and more. Throughout these classes I have learned a lot about different leadership styles and how to work effectively with a team of diverse people and ideas.
Leadership Safari Guide
I was a participant at Leadership Safari in 2008 when I was a Freshman at Central Michigan University and when I was experiencing the program I knew that I wanted to help future students have the same opportunity. I then had the honor of being on staff for 2 years which was a very rewarding experience. As a staff member I was able to work with other staff members throughout training to learn some new and different leadership styles and how to facilitate many types of situations. When the participants arrived I facilitated a variety of activities involving communication, problem-solving, teamwork, trustworthiness, fairness and many more. I loved seeing my participants grow throughout the week and helping them get acquainted with the campus as they started their college career.
Leadership Connections Conference
In Winter 2008 I had the opportunity to attend this conference wit the Leadership Institute and a variety of student leaders. Throughout the conference I learned a lot about myself, the organization I was representing, and was able to connect with so many CMU leaders. Connections that I made at this conference have helped me during my years at CMU and some of these people I have become very good friends with or have worked with through a variety of programs on campus.
Greek Week Representative
I was one of the representatives for my sorority for the annual Greek Week event that all of the social Greek organizations participate in. Throughout my term I attended meetings with the representatives from other chapters to plan the events for the whole week and ensure that the events ran smoothly. In my chapter individually I had to work with another chair. This was difficult at times since we did have different leadership styles and through this I was able to learn how to work with different types of people. Having to organize my chapter along with a partner fraternity was good practice for planning events since I had to help determine what we would be doing for everything from music to costumes, to who participated and everything throughout the week. It was a great experience to raise money with many of my peers and really come together for great causes.
Summer Job Fair Registration Chair
As the summer job fair registration chair I was responsible for going to a variety of RPL classes to obtain volunteers to work the event. The day of the event I oversaw the volunteers that checked in the sites as well as other volunteers. I made sure that everyone knew their tasks and helped in any area needed.
Rho Lambda Secretary
As secretary I was responsible for taking and sending out minutes. I also sent out all emails for the organization and was the main source of communication to the eboard from general members, as well as from the eboard to the general members. I learned how to work with girls that I don't have many things in common as to how an organization runs since we all came from different sorority chapters.
